SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Gear Motions Inc. has announced a joint venture with KBE+ Inc., an engineering consulting firm that specializes in the design and development of gear trains and power transmission devices. The companies have reached an exclusive agreement to utilize each other’s specialties in their ongoing business operations.
“This is the perfect merger of more than 50 years of collective KBE+ experience and more than 100 years of Gear Motions’ application experience,” said Gear Motions President and CEO Sam Haines.
Dr. William Mark McVea, president and founder of KBE+, has a wide range of experience in power transmission fields, including work as an off-highway drive trains design engineer and a design and research engineer with New Venture Gear. He has also been responsible for program development production at the Torsen Drives division of the Gleason Works.
“The addition of Dr. McVea to our precision gear manufacturing program helps broaden the services that Gear Motions offers its customers,” said Dean Burrows, president of Nixon Gear, part of the Gear Motions network. “By offering the capability to design, we can provide to our customers a full-service platform from design, through testing, into prototypes, full-scale production and service. More importantly, his vast experience will further allow us to review and develop new designs on the front end of the process, when there is greater opportunity for maximizing the cost/performance equation.”
After design completion, KBE+ provides full simulation and analysis using state-of-the-art software and computational techniques. Full on-premise laboratory facilities are used to verify and test any design or system. If a client prefers to use its own test facilities, on-site test engineering liaison services and independent results validation is available.
Gear Motions also recently announced its acquisition of Pro-Gear Co. Inc. in Buffalo, N.Y. Pro-Gear is a gear manufacturer for original equipment manufacturers such as Mack Truck, and also provides quick-turnaround gear grinding services for gear manufacturers that need additional capacity or companies that need external gear grinding services.

原文：On 19th July 2011 - Hardman Bros. commissioned the new VT1150 High Performance Vertical CNC Lathe with live tooling. This state of the art machine uses the advanced Fanuc controller with full conversational & ’G’ code programing with the addition of Glass Scale Feedback.
The machine has the capacity to turn a maximum diameter of 1150mm and maximum height of 950mm with the added option of milling (Live Tooling). Live Tooling has the advantage of reducing the number of processes and saves setup times by combining turning & milling in the one operation.

原文：In May, Hardman Bros., together with R & I Instrument & Gear Co., exhibited at Australia’s premier engineering expo, AUSTECH. Held at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre in the Southbank region of Melbourne, it provided a valuable opportunity to meet with existing and new customers to showcase our capabilities and products.
There was a high level of interest in all of the parts, equipment and product demonstrations on the stand. Despite the feedback that numbers were down on past years we found there was no shortage of interest and enthusiasm from both existing and potentially new customers, and also student groups seeking assistance to solve various machining and component challenges.
Two of the big attractions were our ‘6 Speed Sequential Trans Axle’ manufactured by Hardman Bros. and a Helicopter Search Light built by R & I.
Interest in our stand was increased by our promotional ‘STAR TRANSAXLES’ blimp flying around inside the shed. This provided some heart stopping but funny moments as it was guided by various inexperienced ‘pilots’ as it was tracked by a searchlight. Also on display was Ken Horner’s historic Twin Racing Motorcycle based off a design by Phil Irving of Vincent Motorcycles fame and aptly named ‘Irving Vincent’.

The state of the art 5-axis control machine is equipped with revolutionary technology to respond to the need for increasingly complex workpieces.
